The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra is Korea?s oldest and most prominent orchestra employing some 100 members full-time including musicians from North America and Europe. On average the orchestra performs once a week for the citizens of Seoul, a dynamic metropolis of over 10 million people. Recently, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra has embarked on an ambitious campaign to reinvent itself as a world-class ensemble led by the eminent music director Maestro Myung-Whun Chung. Tour plans for 2007-2008 include performances in Thailand, the USA, China and Japan. Some recent and upcoming conductors scheduled to work with the Orchestra include Charles Dutoit, Mikko Franck, James Judd, Stefan Asbury, Rossen Milanov, James Depriest and James Gaffigan. (Rehearsals are mostly conducted in English.)
Presently, the Orchestra is welcoming applications from highly qualified musicians from around the globe for the following positions:
Double Bass Tutti - open to International Candidates
Salary Package:
Tutti: 25,720~52,908 KRW (approx. 28,000~58,000 USD)

Housing and Travel Stipends may also be available for successful Principal Position candidates. 
Auditions:
Auditions for International Applicants are scheduled for Oct 20,21,22 (1st round) and Oct 26 (2nd round). in New York City subject to response. Highly qualified candidates may submit a recording for consideration in lieu of a live audition. The selection process may also include guest engagements with the Orchestra with travel and housing provided.
