Jeffrey Turner has served as a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and as Principal Bass of the New American Chamber Orchestra. He holds a B.M. degree from the Eastman School of Music. He has served as Chairman of the String Department and Adjunct Professor at Duquesne University, where he is also the Artistic Director of the City Music Centers Young Bassist Program. He has held visiting professor posts with Eastman School of Music and with the University of Maryland. Turner has been a resident artist for many annual festivals, including the St. Bartholomy Festival in the French West Indies and the Korsholm Festival in Finland. He has been a featured presenter at the yearly conventions of the International Society of Bassists, and has served on the faculty of the Asian Youth Orchestra under the direction of Lord Yehudi Menuhin. In January of 2002, Turner gave the world premiere of Thomas Newman's double bass concerto, Ward's Ferry, with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.[/aviso]

The Application and Admission processes for all Masters Degree programs are managed directly through the School of Music. Application instructions and Admissions processes apply to the following Master of Music Degree programs:

The One-Plus Four (for undergraduates) and One-Plus Two Programs (for Graduates) are designed for the International musicians whose command of the English Language is not yet sufficient to meet Carnegie Mellonâ??s English proficiency requirements for Admission (250 or greater for Undergraduates, 230 or greater for Graduates). Applicants with TOEFL test scores that meet these requirements should follow procedures for the standard BFA and Masters Degree programs.

   1. Complete the Music School Application
          * Can be completed on line or in person at one of our International Audition sites
                  On-line application fee: $100.00 US. In person application fee: $1500 NT/$400 HK)
   2. Audition for the School of Music: (Two options)
          * Audition in person at one of our International Audition sites (Taiwan or Hong Kong)
          * Send a recording to the School of Music by December 1, 2007
   3. Forward TOEFL scores:

      The School of Music will send a letter either accepting or not accepting applicants to the One Plus programs by January 15.     * Pay the $100.00 application and audition fee using a credit card
    * Stop at the point that you are asked to make an audition reservation. Your audition will be arranged after the outcome of the first phase is known
    * Send CD recording recorded within the last twelve months. Include Recording Submission Form

Supporting Material Requirements: Deadline is January 10, 2008

Send:

    * Three letters of recommendation
    * Completed Live Audition Form listing specific audition repertoire
    * Current Curriculum Vitae
    * Official Graduate Transcripts or foreign equivalent, certifying a Masterâ??s Degree in Music Performance and a minimum quality point average (QPA) of 3.0
    * Official TOEFL scores (applicable to students for whom English is a second language)
    * Student Financial Statement and Affidavit of Financial Support (required only for candidates requesting a student visa)
