LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY Orchestra

Dates Saturday, August 16 ? Friday, September 5, 2008

Course The participants will work on contemporary orchestral, ensemble, and chamber music repertoire in daily rehearsals and lessons. Their work will be supervised by Pierre Boulez, Jean Deroyer and the instrumental coaches of the Ensemble Intercontemporain. The resultant programs will be performed in several concerts during the festival.

Audition  The course management will decide on active participation upon receipt of the registration forms and recordings. Applicants may audition live in Paris before January 30, 2008. Please arrange a place and date with the academy office. The results of the selections will be announced by the middle of March 2008. There is no right of legal appeal. No correspondence will be conducted regarding the decisions.

Course Fee  There is no fee for active participation in the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY Orchestra.

Travel  The LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY will cover the travel expenses of each active participant.   

Accommodation  LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY will arrange and cover the cost of accommodation of each active participant.   

Meals  Each active participant in the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY Orchestra will receive a daily lump sum for the main meals.   

Scores  The LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY will provide all instrumental parts for the orchestral, and ensemble repertoire. The parts for the solo and chamber music literature have to be acquired by the participants.

Mr. X, noté que en los requisitos de varios festivales piden dos movimientos de alguna de las suites de Bach, pero que tiene que ser una transcripción. ¿Qué edición es recomendable? Yo la que puedo conseguir es la de Sterling, pero alguna vez dijiste que no es buena.

Bueno, lo que mucha gente hace es tomar una edicion de cello y hacer la transcripcion... pero mucha gente usa la edicion de Mark Bernat, a mi no me gusta mucho, porque quita notas en los acordes y los fraseos son diferentes a lo que uno oye por ahi, y el dice que lo hizo asi para hacer las suites mas al idioma del contrabajo... ya sabes, cuartas y cosas incomodas... pero esa resuelve... si no, tambien estan las de Rabbath de las primeras dos suites.

Dime que quieres estudiar y yo te mando las versiones que tengamos.  Y si Sterling no es buena edicion, es vieja y esta pensada para contrabajos con cuerdas muy altas y dificiles de tocar en todas las posiciones, sobretodo las agudas.

Yo había pensado en la primera o segunda suite, creo que están bien para empezar.
