GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING RECORDINGS FOR ROYAL CONCERTGEBOUW ORCHESTRA AUDITIONS

GENERAL INFORMATION

Audio cassette tapes, compact discs or digital audio tapes may be submitted.

GUIDELINES FOR MAKING RECORDINGS

We recommend that you follow these guidelines when making your recording:

1. If recording on cassette tape, we suggest you consider taping on a hi bias (Type II) tape in in stereo with Dolby B. Set volume (VU) meters so that your loudest passages peak at 0. Do not overload or under record your tape. Also please do not use automatic level setters.

2. Please play each movement or excerpt straight through. No editing should be done on individual movements or excerpts.

3. If submitting a cassette tape, please leave approximately 5 seconds blank between movements or excerpts, and please rewind the tape to the beginning before sending.

4. Print your name and telephone number on the label of the cassette tape, CD or DAT itself (not on the box).

5. We strongly urge you to have someone else listen to your completed recording on a machine other than the one on which it was recorded and offer comments prior to submitting it for the audition.

6. Please do not talk or make any identifying sounds on your recording, as these auditions are anonymous.

7. Recordings must be received by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on or before the deadline.
